IMPERFECTION

When I go to the beach or the water park and see bodies, male and female alike, thinly clad in their swimming suits moving around, I sometimes wonder why we have sexy models gracing the front pages of magazines when the rest of the world don’t really give a rat’s ass of how we look πŸ™‚ The probability of finding the finely sculpted bodies of these cover girls in the crowd is rather slim, for the bodies you would likely see are obese, wide, skinny, crooked, chubby, disproportionate….. I’m running our of adjectives now πŸ™‚ In short, the crowd reeks with imperfection but I didn’t say that everyone was ugly and beauty was nowhere to be found. In fact you’d be amused to find lots of imperfect, nice looking cuties that will make your day quite interesting πŸ˜‰

“I suspect the secret of personal attraction is locked up in our unique imperfections, flaws and frailties ” Hugh Mackay

I dislike people who are perfectionists or those that demand perfection when they themselves are far from being perfect. When we like someone from the opposite sex and finally decide to go out with him/her, it would mean that we have finally learned to deal the worst part of his/her imperfections. Our handling of such imperfection could either make or break the relationship. Marilyn Monroe was absolutely spot on when she said “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

“Learning gives us a fuller conviction of the imperfections of our nature; which one would think, might dispose us to modesty” …Jeremy Collier

At our usual cafeteria lunch talk, a colleague of mine mentioned about a friend who had a habit of watching beauty pageants, searching for the woman of her dreams πŸ™‚ His buddy didn’t have the looks of Brad Pitt but had been looking way beyond his league πŸ˜† In the corporate arena, you sometimes wonder if senior managers have an inkling of what modesty means, when they are so unequivocal with their mandates, demanding results to be no less than perfect. In matters of relationship, the intense friction of egos are the result of the lack of modesty, of understanding one’s own imperfections. As one saying goes, “when you work on your own life, you are less likely to hyper focus on the imperfections of your spouse”.. Martha Quinn

WHY PACQUIAO SUED THE MAYWEATHERS

The A-side meth is what they used to have 500 years ago. Remember when the Philippines were fighting the US soldiers? They were shooting them motherf****s with 45s. And 45s were bouncing off their motherf****ng a$$. They weren’t even dying!”

That’s Roger Mayweather, uncle and trainer of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. on his expert analysis of where Manny Pacquiao’s exceptional prowess comes from. First of all, if A-side meth was invented by Pinoys 500 years ago, Pacquiao wouldn’t be the only Pinoy to get the 7 weight class championship belts πŸ™‚ Secondly, the anachronism is plain horrible. The Americans invaded the Philippines in the 1800’s and not the 1500’s. Thirdly, if the Pinoy soldiers weren’t dying with the .45 cal bullets, then the Yanks must have been shooting at vampires. Roger Mayweather had been watching too much vampire movies lately πŸ™‚

Never mind Roger’s tall tale. I wonder – when did this Pacquiao steroids allegation start floating around ? I suspect it originated from Floyd Mayweather Sr. then trainer of Ricky Hatton who was too embarrassed to answer questions as to why his man was decked and put to sleep by Pacquiao in the 2nd round. The steroids allegation was a perfect alibi – yep, Pacquiao had an illegal secret weapon that nullified all the moves and tricks he taught Hatton.

Let me cut this short. If the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight ever happens and I hope it does, and Pacquiao becomes the underdog, methinks he would be the best underdog ever in the sport of boxing. Fans are so gung ho about Mayweather defeating aging fighters – Marquez (36) and Mosely (38) , both wins coming via decisions making him the favorite, diminishing the Pacman’s impressive string of knockout wins over the last 2 years. Let’s get it on. I hope the fight happens… and soon.

  1. You can’t have everything. What we need is less imperfections. You can be beautiful, intelligent and have a big butt.

People think Mayweather is the new pound for pound king. Bob Arum said that if Mayweather fought the way he did Mosley, Pacquiao will knock him out.

    • I admit I chuckled at your post. Are you talking about Jennifer Lopez ? πŸ˜†

Well, Arum is always on Manny’s side and being the money man for the Pac, he can embellish things a little πŸ˜‰

  2. Imperfections-perfections – these are relative. Just like the saying one man’s garbage is another man’s gold. What is one man’s perfection is other’s imperfection – depends on the person looking.

I hope the fight between the two goes thru as well.

    • Well said. Each of us has his/her own taste so to speak and waiting for perfection means waiting for the sun to expire πŸ™‚

I wish they could stop the talking and get on with the fighting !

  3. I know I am not perfect so I don’t dream of finding a perfect partner. Sometimes, one special trait can erase all imperfections.

    • Same here – that’s my philosophy although we strive to hook up with someone we really dig πŸ˜‰ hmm.. as far as that special trait that erases all imperfections – what could that be in a woman… hehe πŸ˜†

  4. Floyd Mayweather is jealous of Manny. Now he wants to fight Sergio Martinez in the middleweight division for the 6th title ? and the 7th to equal Pacquio. Or he is avoiding Pacquiao. His fight with Moesly was a non title fight. Why? because he is avoiding a welterweight title defense if Pacman wants a welterweight unification . I don’t think he wants to fight Pacman, the only welterweight today who can knock him out.

    • you made a valid point. Why a non-title fight with Mosley. That’s strange. Means title belts are no longer significant. The problem with Floyd Mayweather is he is instituting his own regulations with his drug testing demands which at the end of the day does harm more than good to the sport,

  5. Speaking of perfection, we can blame those glossy fashion magazines for making the rest of us mortals look like hideous creatures from the lagoon, when in fact a lot of those are photoshoped, hehe.

I’m no fan of boxing, but Roger Mayweather’s statement further shows the extent of his knowledge of world history. Or perhaps he was referring to Ramon Revilla and his anting-anting, hehe. πŸ˜€

    • so true ! The “retoke” is so sophisticated these days that you can be so granular with erasing spots and blemishes from a person’s body. πŸ˜‰

Looks like Roger Mayweather is the one on A-side meth with the way he talks about .45 cal bullets bouncing off people’s bodies LOL πŸ˜†

  6. natuwa naman ako sa post mo… πŸ™‚

in the words of Tyra Banks, “Perfection is boring.”

ika nga, our jagged edges makes us interesting…

  7. Hugh Hefner is so imperfect, I see a few homeless on the corner streets who looks just like him daily; yet he gets chicks left and right at that age – well he’s got MONEY. Dolpi has money, Loud mouth Da Donald has money. No chicks in their right frame of mind will take a second look on these dudes or old farts if they’re moneyless, hehe….

Hope da fight goes as schedule before year’s end.

    • Gosh, Hugh Hefner is already in his 80’s man. Sex makes you live longer eh ? πŸ˜‰ Money is certainly one thing that erases all imperfections πŸ™‚

Hope it does happen so we can get it over with. Pacquiao would be a real good underdog bet.

  9. I remember a college friend whom I find really pretty. Whenever I would comment on her charming face, she’d say that she’s a consolidated result of imperfection. That her nose isn’t nice, etc. There’s truth in that. Bottomline, sometimes, imperfection makes us better. =)

    • external beauty impresses people but sometimes immaculately beautiful people have attitudes that would make them terribly imperfect 😯

  10. I think the promoters are now looking at November 13 as a possible date for Mayweather-Pacquiao. I do hope that it pushes through this time so that I can watch the Congressman pound the Tax Evader’s face to bits.

How have you been, Pards? Sorry that I haven’t been here for quite a while. I sure am glad that you’re still blogging and still writing very nice and enjoyable pieces. Take care! πŸ™‚

    • Wouldn’t it be proper and fitting for a legislator to punish the “money man” as if telling him ” here’s for not paying your goddam taxes ” hahaha πŸ™‚

Hey, it’s always a pleasure to see you back in cyberspace. Hope you’re doing just fine, successful and living well as I imagine πŸ˜‰

  11. I’m not a perfectionist except in my work. I work on the slogan “measure twice, cut once”. Preparation and a well thought plan are my essential ingredients to a perfect execution. Besides that, I’ll readily sleep with a girl with “Ugliy Betty’s” face but with Jay-lo’s body (just kidding). >: D

As for Mayweather & Pacman… I’m tired of waiting!

    • Shania Twain , who looks almost perfect would be quite monotonous for me πŸ™‚ Same here, net net, methinks a sexy body rules over a pretty face πŸ˜‰

Now that the Pacman is Mr. Congressman, the wait may take even longer 😯

  12. I don’t look up to imperfection. We have so much of it. Acceptance is the keyword and the person becomes perfect. It’s just the way how we see things.

the Mayweather and Pacman fight is quite a long wait. Let’s see how the fighting congressman fare with already lots of responsibilities here and there…

    • very well said indeed which also somehow dovetails with the issue of modesty. If we look for perfection in a person we’d be twiddling our thumbs forever. If I may add that some people have no idea of how imperfect they are πŸ˜‰

well, I heard Mr Congressman spent $6.6M for his successful election campaign. Hindi raw kayang tapatan ng kalaban na mayaman din. Now I think he needs to fight Mayweather to recoup his expenses πŸ™‚

      • I heard from a reliable source that Manny Pacquiao was into vote-buying. I agree that he should fight Mayweather to recoup his political expense. Win or lose, he’ll earn anyway…

        • hmm… now i’m curious.. 300 million pesos is a lot of money to be spent just for the campaign 😯

  13. this is an interesting subject. Blame advertising and commercials for exploting people’s insecurities. But true, personally people get insecure on how they look but the truth is most people don’t give a damn. As long as your decent and proper it’s okay

    • true … these ads are just accentuating our imperfections πŸ™‚
We all strive to look like them hehe.

  14. At 170 cm tall and 92 kilo, I am not a small man, but I once took a picture next to my friend who is 180 cm tall, and weighs in at 147 kilo. I never felt fat again.

Still, I enjoyed your blog, and have not been to the beach in a swim suit in years. I think we do well to embrace some the ideas you shared. Thank you.

    • Thanks Keith.. Perhaps you should soak up at the beach soon. Hope everything is swell with you πŸ™‚

      • BW, I am sure I have future beach trips ahead of me. Still, being in a powered wheelchair, I wonder when I will ever orchestrate it. I found you reading comments on Panaderos website. I am glad to stop in to read tyour thoughts

        • Beach trips are very relaxing and fun even if I am not in the water πŸ™‚

I came up with this post in a large indoor waterpark actually as it is still spring here πŸ˜‰

  16. so superficial if one thinks he or she is perfect and is better than others. physical beauty is skin deep. it is what is inside that matters most.

    • at the end of the day, everyone will grow old and imperfection will be more. you are absolutely right – what’s inside is what matters most.

  17. When I was young, I tried to compare myself with others – physically! But now, Im very contented of what I have both outside and inside! Imperfection sometimes gives us the courage to take a risk to improve our life and to be accepted by the society.

  18. I actually really like your thoughts on imperfection! I never looked at relationships that way, with egos clashing if one doesn’t understand their own imperfections. But it makes perfect sense! Everybody knows the saying: “Nobody’s perfect,” but you really nailed it.
